American Eagle Gold Coins

American Eagle Gold Coins Sizes
The American Eagle Gold coins come in several sizes including: 1/10 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1 oz sizes.
The design on one side of these gold eagle coins are based on the Augustus St. Gaudens Liberty image which was used on the Double Eagle coins during 1907 through 1933. The other side of the coin shows a family of eagles and an eagle in flight with an olive branch.
Since 1986, the United States Mints has offered a Proof Gold Eagle. They have a cameo like proof finish, yet have the same gold content and specifications of the bullion gold coins. Each year limited amounts are produced.
In 2006, the United States Mint created the Burnished Gold Eagle coin. These special coins are struck on burnished blanks and include the "W" mint mark. Less amounts of Burnished Gold Eagles are produced than other gold eagle coins.
Also in 2006, the United States Mint made a special 20th Anniversary Gold Eagle Set which includes three one ounce gold eagles that have different finishes.
